Aside from the fact that we all grew up watching Audiotree videos on YouTube, getting to play our own Audiotree live session was an experience that really hit me pretty hard because as much time and energy as we put into the creation and recording of our music, what makes me feel the most like a musician is when we're all in the same place in the same moment playing the same song, and Audiotree helped us capture and preserve some of the magic that happens when we can all just play some music together.

Growing up I was constantly teased about my stage presence. To put it bluntly, I had resting drumming bitch face. I was frowning and motionless behind the kit. Much like those suffering from the phenomenon of "resting bitch face", I never intentionally pouted; I was just so focused on the music and not fucking things up that I couldn't care to smile. However, playing with this band is just... different. When we perform I literally cannot help but smile. During nearly every show on our tour last year I would leave the stage drenched in sweat and tears of joy. Having that kind of energy so expertly captured by the Audiotree team is such a privilege.

Nearly 10 years ago, my good friend Syd showed me audiotree live. Since that point we found so many of our favorite bands through audiotree and it was another one of those things that nudged me towards choosing a career in music. So for me it’s very fitting that Syd’s voice can be heard in the background at the end of our last song, Sorry!
It was a conversation between me and her about where we were going to play pool that week. When finalizing the song, I decided to put our conversation in to add ambience to the end — little did I know it would come full circle so many years later, and the very person that introduced me to audiotree live would end up in our own session.

It just felt surreal, I don't think a single one of us processed the fact we were going to have an actual session with audiotree until well after we finished the recording. Going up to their office, you’re just surrounded by signed photos and show posters from past artists who’ve performed a session, documented history of some of the most influential contemporary independent artists of the last decade. Some of whom I've worshiped for years, some who have since retired from music, all immortalized in their live performance, thanks to Audiotree. It’s a dream come true, we are humbled to share this common place with our musical inspirations and the legacy of Audiotree.
